    • We have a desire to put on a workshop in November. We are proposing the one below, seemingly a good match to the holiday season.

What is a Families and Politics Workshop?

Family relationships are becoming casualties of our toxic polarized environment. Family members are having nasty political arguments, avoiding each other, or even cutting off lifetime relationships.

If you want to preserve important family bonds while still being true to your values and political beliefs, this workshop is for you!

Although the focus is on family relationships, you can use strategies in this workshop with any loved one. You’ll laugh and have some fun in this workshop—it won’t be all serious. After all, we all come from quirky families

    • Our workshop yesterday went well. Everybody seemed to find it worthwhile and rewarding. A lot of insights gained, connections made. When asked about takeaways, one person said “Hope”. Another said “New Friends”.

If you participated, thanks for making it a great event. Please give us more of your thoughts by replying below.

    • Hi, I’m Leigh Anderson. I’m a co-developer of Continuing the Conversation. I live in Houston TX, near Rice University. I’m retired from the oil industry, with a math and technical computing background. My current interests are political philosophy and social media.

I lean red, with a classical “Edmund Burke” conservative orientation. I’ll be posting quite a bit in CtC, starting and leading discussions.

You are welcome to contact me if I can be of any help.

    • Yes. But currently the only way to post images is by URL. You can click the “img” button above the reply window, and insert the URL (web link) to an image residing somewhere on the Internet. In the future we will add the capability to insert images from files etc. directly into a post.

For example, on Wikipedia there is a nice photo of our guiding spirit, @abe at

So I click on the “img” button and add that. See result below:

    • Do you refer to the website or the cable network? I have an aversion to anything on TV; I only read news, and once in a while watch a video or podcast. It’s a personal preference: I just don’t like media which controls the focus of attention and pace.

For some years I did occasionally watch Fox on TV. They had some excellent reporters. But the ones I enjoyed seem to leave. Which reporters, or programs do you follow?

I also read Real Clear Politics. It does an excellent job of aggregating opinion across the spectrum, as well as featuring conservative view points.
